The city

Today’s Scenic Sunday post is proud glorious city here in Austin, Tx. It’s the first day I haven’t seen it without the billowing smoke from the fires surrounding us.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Up

6 Sep

The scenic sunday post for this week (that I’m publishing on Tuesday)… is a photo I took at the Capitol. woo!!! I just love stars–which makes me fit right in here in Texas–there’s stars EVERYWHERE! :) This is a pic from the bottom center of the capitol, looking up at the top of the dome.

If you look closely, you can see TEXAS around the star! so awesome! :)

The little things

28 Aug

Have you ever seen something and automatically thought of someone?
This week’s Scenic Sunday post is a pic I took at my favorite hangout. We went there the day before my birthday when my friends came in town! I needed katchup for my sweet potato fries. Then my friend made me a mustard smiley face!!:) I cracked up!!! :) now if I ever see a big blob of katchup, it’ll remind me of her and I’ll think, “where is my mustard smiley face?!” hehe

Bonus pic…
Our hotel had these lids on our coffee that remind me of my days workin at my old job. One of my besties and I would have our coffee together (the same way: two Sweet Thangs, two creamers–b4 the coffee) and our work had the exact same coffee lids, etc! So I’ll think of her every time I see these lids!!

There’s so many more, I could go on and on… So this post will be continued!!:) Have you ever had this situation happen to you? I’d love to hear I’m not the only one….

#summerplans UPDATE!!!!

15 Aug

Recently, I was able to cross another item off my Bucket/ #summerplans list!! Can I get a WOOHOO?!

Number 3 on the list:
Run a 5k

Mile marker 3 of my 5K

Check out the last mile marker for the run!! It seemed like that last mile was the longest, also the 5k was actually 3.3 miles, but who’s counting ;) !! However, even though it felt the longest, it also went by the fastest, because there were volunteers at the last turn and one of my besties and my boyfriend were at the finish line cheering me on!!! :) When I heard my name and place at the finish line, I had the biggest sense of pride I have felt in a long time!
Although I didn’t run the whole time (and I plan to train better to have a better pace and endurance for the NEXT one) and didn’t place that high in my age division, I was completely excited that I finished! :) Also, it pushed me to do better and try harder next time! Especially since my bestie ran the whole time!! (‘Cause she’s hardcore!!)
Anyway, I will keep my promise to you and keep you updated on my checklist of todos for summertime! :) Have you checked anything off your list lately? I’m so excited about mine, I would love to hear yours! :)
PS Sorry I haven’t written in a while. Promise to be better! ;)

#worththewait

19 Jul

There’s a twitter TT right now: #worththewait. Has there ever been events in your life that the trials and tribulations were worth the sweat or grind for the end result? Or the hindsight turned out to be 20/20 once you put your contacts in? Well, a few moments came to my mind, and I thought I’d share.
1. The CRUISE I went on with my co-workers. Man we sure counted down the days until that one came. I especially did since I had never been on one and also since i was getting real close to my coworkers. I was so excited and hardly believed it was really going to happen. Until finally, it was Cruise day!!! It exceeded my expectations!
2. Ever have that STORM of an ex that you have to go through to see the RAINBOW of a significant other who made you see the light of day? Well that’s my story. And if ever hindsight was the case, mine was for sure. :) I waited a quarter of my life to meet him, and hopefully will have him for the rest of it.
3. If you have ever been to school, and finished, you can more than likely say your book hitting days were worth the wait. I can definitely say that about my Xray DEGREE. Although I’m not using it currently, I had the best job of my life using that degree. Therefore, the penguins, positioning, and physics I had to endure were mere speed bumps in the road to making myself a better life.
4. If you’re a hardcore rocker like me ;) you know the strength it takes to play one of those Long GUITAR HERO songs!!! I sure love to rock it out, and sometimes those songs go on and on and on…. You scream IS THIS EVER GONNA END???? Then, surprisingly when you complete it (@98% might I add), the sense of accomplishment is overwhelming!! :)
5. Last year, we had the best Halloween party EVER!! I went over to my BFF’s house, and got ready SUPER early (had to get the outfit exactly right), and I was so inpatient!! I was like, can’t we call people to come early?!? But, stuck it out, and so many people came, and it was SOOO MUCH FUN!!
6. In our new gypsy way of life, we had over a month off before my boyfriend got his next gig. We were kinda frantic about all the TIME OFF and we started to worry. But, we put it in God’s hands and landed a job. Whew! And it ended up being a great job and in an AWESOME part of town. Therefore, the time off before his Austin job was well worth the wait because we are happy where we landed.
Lucky number 7. Let’s go back a decade, you know, when you were in diapers ;) when I used to sweat to the bone during drill team practice before football games. We would work sooo hard during the week and try out to perform at the football game. Even before, during summer practices, we would get ready for the football game performances. It would all be worth it when those FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS poured all over you. I remember those nights like it was just yesterday. The rush of remembering the routines, the pride in perfecting your skill, and the cheer of the fans afterward, made all the hard work worth it!!!!

Just a couple of things I remember most of all that were #worththewait. Anything you can add to my list? From yours? Or that included me? Please share! :)

#Summerplans update! :)

17 Jul

Today’s Scenic Sunday post is an update of my #summerplans list.

photo taken at the Capitol

Last weekend, I went with my boyfriend’s parents to the Capitol! It was SOOO much fun! :) We got to see several of the past flags that have flown in Texas, as well as the Senate and House chambers. EXCITING! I’m so happy I got to cross this one off my list, because I feel such a sense of pride in my state when I go there. There’s so much to learn about our state and so much history in one place.
Have you been to a place that brought you a sense of pride recently? Please comment and let me know, I’d love to hear about it. I’ll keep ya updated as I cross things off my list! :)
